Folk Art Vintage Beaded Iroquois Whimsy Handbag Native American Beadwork

  
This is a fantastic Vintage to Antique Beaded Whimsy Handbag / Box. Known to have been made around the Turn of the century by the Iroquois in the Northern NY and Canadian area. These "Roadside" souvenirs are often referred to as Pin Cushion, though there are examples of these little Purses. A mix of 3/D Berry like clusters and "dangles" give this piece a remarkable presence. Add it to a collection or start one. This piece is in overall excellent condition.

There are beads missing, I did not cut the strings to be sure you know where any missing beads may go if you decide to restore the piece. If you want to cut the strings, be sure to tie them off, gently, as the thread is old and will snap with too much tension. This piece does have a pair of handles, which have been restrung on monofilament line and secured at one end by winding through the beads easy to take out, though secured to hold in place.
